Sept 20 – 24, 2017 Storms

The first round of storms moved through the early hours of Wednesday 9/20/17 knocking out power to 4,500+ members in northern areas of our service territory.  Our crews headed out to begin restorations. Crews from Todd Wadena Electric and East Central arrived by late morning to assist us.

With the heavy damage, work was slow but we had restored 3,500 members by late evening. With crews working through the night and throughout the next day, Thursday 9/21/17, we had everyone back on and thought all was over. Unfortunately crews were called back in at 4:30 Friday morning and continued another long day of restoration.  Many of these storms affected the same areas as previous day’s events.

We got many restored by Friday afternoon, but with weekend property owners arriving to no power and continued bad weather both Saturday and Sunday evening, the numbers fluctuated throughout the weekend. We were finally able to get everyone back on by the early hours of Monday 9/25/17.  The relentless work did not go unnoticed by our members who greatly supported the work efforts on Facebook.
