In a recent show of unwavering commitment to local communities, the Crow Wing Power Community Trust Board proudly announced the allocation of $52,600 in grants during its first quarterly meeting in January. Notably, $28,500 of this sum is earmarked to support local food shelf organizations, underscoring the board's dedication to addressing critical needs within the community.

Nourishing Communities

The grants disbursed in January extend a helping hand to various food shelves, including Pierz Area, Motley Area, Longville Area, Pine River Area, Crosslake, Central Lakes College Food Pantry, Lakes Area, and Emily. This diverse range of recipients highlights Operation Round-Up®'s comprehensive approach to tackling food insecurity across the Crow Wing Power service territory.

Beyond Food Programs

In addition to supporting local food programs, the quarterly grants reached a multitude of organizations, including Aging Isn’t Easy—Pine River UMC, National Child Safety—Morrison County, Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office, Brainerd Fire Department, Mary of Lourdes School, Crow Wing County Victim Services, and many others. These grants align with Operation Round-Up®'s mission to contribute to initiatives falling within the categories of human health and well-being, food shelves, local environmental projects, early childhood, youth, and senior organizations.

Impactful Contributions in 2023

In 2023, Operation Round-Up® made a significant impact by donating $233,148 to community projects and programs in Cass, Crow Wing, and Morrison counties. The program, fueled by the generosity of participating Crow Wing Power members, allows individuals to round up their electric bills to the nearest whole dollar, contributing an average of fifty cents per month. These pooled funds are then distributed quarterly to address the diverse needs of the community. Since its inception in 1996, Operation Round-Up® has contributed a grand total of $4,662,289 to support over 1,200 organizations.
