Here's a chart that compares Crow Wing Power electric heating rates to equivalent prices for fossil fuel. By knowing the approximate efficiency of your existing furnace and the price you pay for fuel, this chart can be used to calculate potential savings resulting from heating your home with a controlled electric rate.

Here’s an example on how to use this chart:
Assume you have a standard efficiency propane furnace that uses 1,000 gallons of fuel each heating season, which costs you $2.42/gal. According to this chart, compared to a Dual Fuel rate of $0.052/kwh, you would have to buy propane @ $.87/gal to be equal. $2.42 (present cost) - $.87 (electric equivalent) = $1.55/gal saved x 1,000 gallons used = $1,550 estimated annual savings.
