Crow Wing Power members have unique opportunities in several Cooperative programs we offer.
Commitment to Community Award Program: 2008 marked the fifth year of our Commitment to Community Award program. This fall, Lakes Area Interfaith Care Givers (LAICG) was awarded a $500 gift and a plaque as the number one organization applying for the award.
LAICG has 400 volunteers that serve over 125 people each month, giving over 200 rides mainly for medical appointments, visiting 45 lonely people each month and constructing about 30 wheelchair ramps each year for those who cannot afford to have them built. Their focus is on helping disabled and people in need. Crow Wing Power was pleased to be able to honor LAICG for their strong commitment to community this year.
Each year about 20 sister cooperatives offer the same program and local winners are entered into a state-wide pool. The ultimate state-wide winner receives an additional $1,000. LAICG will be eligible for the state-wide competition.
Co-op Connections Member Discount Program: Each of our members is given free Co-op Connections cards and key-fobs to use at over 130 local businesses to receive valuable discounts, including pharmacy discounts at most local drug stores. Simply show your card at participating businesses. The program works well in that it encourages people to shop locally and helps not only the residential members, but our business members as well.More...
