Each year, Crow Wing Power and other electric cooperatives around the state join in to help clean-up our state parks on the first Saturday in May. Locally, we work with volunteers in the Annual Mineland Clean-up near Crosby, MN. This year, the 23rd annual Mineland Clean-up was Wednesday, May 7 from 5 to 7 p.m.. We'll also volunteered in helping the Crow Wing State Park on Saturday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m..
Over 200 members, students and area residents volunteered to help clean up the Crosby mine pits now officially the Cuyuna State Recreational Area. "The tremendous effort by community volunteers helps provide for some enjoyable recreation in our state rec area," said Steve Weber, Manager of the State Rec Area. "It's becoming a much healthier and safer place to recreate."
Char Kinzer and Jolene Jensen of Crow Wing Power and Linda Weimer of Mille Lacs Energy coordinate the event as part of the cooperatives 'GreenTouch' program - a six-year state park clean-up project sponsored by Touchstone Energy Cooperatives throughout the state.
Nineteen other electric cooperatives volunteer in similar projects at State Parks as well.
Join us each year for State Park clean up projects. Call 1-800-648-9401 to find out about a project near you.
Ongoing Community Involvement
Join our employees in helping our communities as we coach children and walk for the American Cancer Society, the March of Dimes, Muscular Distrophy and the Heart Association. We believe in donating time to help non-profit organizations like United Way, Kinship partners and the Confidence Learning Center. We'll be serving meals at benefits for our customers who may be experiencing health emergencies and we help brighten lives of the elderly by volunteering for nursing home activities. We're proud of the employees that work for Crow Wing Power and proud of the fact that we're locally owned and operated.
