Phone scammers have become more frequent in the past few weeks. They identify themselves as representatives of Crow Wing Power and request immediate payment by threatening termination of service within the hour. The thieves ask for credit card over the phone or ask you to buy a prepaid debit card, creating an untraceable payment transaction.
Crow Wing Power advises its members that such calls are not legitimate and any member receiving such a call should not provide any financial or personal information to the callers.
Past Due Account Steps
When a Crow Wing Power member’s account is past due, CWP provides two written notices before it calls to alert the member that their service is to be disconnected.
Once a call is made, it is to notify the member that their service will be disconnected in the next day and a half, thereby providing the member extra time to make payment arrangements. Members have several options available to make a payment before service is terminated.
