Commitment to Community is one of the 7 Co-op Principals and was the cornerstone on which cooperatives were first built. As a local co-op, Crow Wing Power calls the territories we serve home.
Donations Top $4 Million Since 1996
Operation Round-Up is a charitable giving program unique to electric cooperatives that is designed to provide financial donations to worthwhile community programs. Funds are collected by rounding up participating member's electric bills to the nearest dollar.
The program is operated by Crow Wing Power Community Trust, a separate non-profit organization, run by nine Crow Wing Power members who act as trustees. The Crow Wing Power Community Trust Round-Up Board meets quarterly in January, April, July, and October. Deadlines for applications are Jan. 10, April 10, July 10 and October 10 each year. All decisions for donations are made by the trustees and are totally separate from the Crow Wing Power Board of Directors. Trustees on the Round-Up Board serve a maximum of 6 years.
New Crow Wing Power members receive a packet that discusses Operation Round Up and automatic enrollment in the program and it includes an opt-out form. Members enrolled typically donate an average 50 cents per month, or $6.00 a year. The small change makes a big change in helping charitable organizations in the region. Members who no longer want to be on the program should call 218-829-2827.
Crow Wing Power works to ensure that our area continues to be a good place to live, work and raise a family. To do that we sponsor and participate in many local events and take an active role in economic development to help build and grow our cities, towns and neighborhoods.
We are keenly aware of our community's needs. We have a special program that helps human health and well-being programs, Crow Wing Power has nurtured these longstanding ties and deep roots since we formed in 1937.
Why is this commitment so important to us? We know that everyone benefits from a stronger community. Helping our neighbors is part of what Crow Wing Power has always been. As a member, you can take pride in that.
Donations made through Operation Round-up are just 1 of the ways we are Committed to our Community. We understand the importance of scholarships to support families in our communities. That’s why Crow Wing Power offers several options for scholarships for our students.
