Is there someone in your community who goes above and beyond to make life better for others? Maybe they’ve given countless hours to help a nonprofit thrive, rallied neighbors for a local project, or stepped in to support those in need. Now is your chance to shine a light on their service.
We are proud to partner with Minnesota’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives to launch the Cooperative Heroes Award — a recognition program celebrating individuals who embody the cooperative spirit and make a meaningful impact where they live.
About the Award
Minnesota is home to 44 electric distribution cooperatives, serving 85% of the state and every county. This award highlights the values that cooperatives hold close — integrity, innovation, reliability, accountability, and commitment to community.
A panel of judges will evaluate nominees based on these values as they select three outstanding winners:
- First Place: $1,000 to support a nonprofit or cause of their choice
- Second Place: $500 to support a nonprofit or cause of their choice
- Third Place: $500 to support a nonprofit or cause of their choice
How to Nominate
Nominations are open October 1 – November 15. Anyone served by a Minnesota electric cooperative can submit an application.
Complete the short nomination form on this page: https://www.mrea.org/programs/touchstone-energy/
Tip: Draft your answers in another document before applying, as the form does not allow saving until you hit submit.
Full contest rules are available here: https://www.mrea.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Cooperative-Heroes-Rules-MNTEG.pdf
